Hands down the easiest and most fastest app photo/video organizer

Silent Sifter is hands down was the easiest and most fastest app photo and video organizer I have ever used. It organized everything perfectly! My photos were such a mess in different locations, different hard drives, etc... This tool did did the job! I have one word for this software AMAZING! My life just feels better knowing my photos and videos are organized. Thanks!

Get Hazel Instead

Save your money and spend a few more bucks on Hazel. This app is decent but unrefined. It requires manual intervention each time you want to add photos and then you must manually clean up the source files. I appreciate the intent but the execution is not up to par and it seems this app doesnt get updated. It has been 50% off forever and is still overpriced.

Great App!

This is maybe the best app Ive ever purchased. I have thousands of photos from many different sources: 2 Cannon cameras, an iphone, blackberry. And not organized especially well. With this app I was easily able to organize my whole collection based on the date the picture was taken, something I couldnt do in iPhoto, and back up my photos to an external hard disk. One problem I had with sifter was using my Cannon as an input into sifter. While the import was taking place it would halt and cancel midway through. After this happened repeatedly, to get around this I just imported everything into iPhoto first and then used iphoto as the input to sifter. Iphoto is very good for doing the imports. For sifter I used 2 outputs, a folder I created on my desktop and an external hard disk. As I do each import followed by a sift, I end up with everything in iphoto, a desktop folder and my external hard-drive. I dont really use the iCloud, prefer to backup my folders on my own.

Saves sooo much time!

I was overwhelmed and ignoring the inevitable ---- sorting through thousands of photos and video all mixed together from various sources. Enough said, right? AWFUL. Then I took a chance on an unknown, inexpensive app with only a few reviews -- it was either to be my best or worst decision. BEST. I started small, designating 2 input folders. A miracle unfolded before my eyes. It sifted the 2 years of video and pictures into chronological order, establishing folders with year, month, and file name with date. AWESOME. I then fed it everything! This app delivers all it promises. Watch the 3 minute utube tutorial by vector 15. It was all the info I needed to get started. SIMPLE to SIMPLY AMAZING.

Amwesome App! Awesome Support!

This app just works! Not only does it save a bunch of time, there support is amazing. Ive had a few minor issues and they have been addressed within hours. Great app! Im very curious to see what this company will deliver next.

Great organizational tool!

Downloaded this app over the weekend and after a few glitches it worked great. The customer service I received THE BEST!!!!! Great for people like me that like to procrastinate in sorting their photos. 10 years, almost 5,000 pictures/videos and theyre now organized! I highly recommend!

Wasted $8

This sounded like just what I needed to sort out my photos on two different computers, one of which has over 30,000 and the other that is quickly catching up. Lots of duplicates due to testing light conditions, etc. Bought it. Supposedly simple drag and drop interface for both input and output. Tried to drag in my Aperture library, it was rejected. Went to their website only to find that there are lots of people requesting Aperture support. I was shocked that this app doesnt support Apples professional photo editing and organization program, only the consumer ware iPhoto. EXTREMELY disappointed. Come on developers, what is the deal? It cant be that much harder, can it?

Magic

This app takes a time consuming process and automates it. Easy to setup and easy to use with tons of configuration options. Its a wonder a there arent more program like this. Great job and keep up the good work.

GREAT APP

As an avid traveler and graduate student, I have been overwhelmed by photos that are scattered across my computer and devices. In ten minutes with Silent Sifter, suddenly its all organized. Simply amazing.

Great App!

Does exactly what you want it to and more. Support for the app is amazing. Can’t say enough good things...

FANTASTIC app

This app saved me days and months of organizing photos by just doing the whole thing automatically. I have tried many different apps for just simply organizing my photos, removing dupes etc. and all have done something wrong. iPhoto creates dupes, and god knows where it keeps things. Picasa does not even move photos and organize. This app does all of that. If you have a large photo collection, that regularly needs spring-cleaning, this is fantastic.

Best App Ever

I have been looking for this App forever!!!!! It is amazing. I have been methodically backing up my files on externals for years. This App enabled me to pull everything together in one place. Now I have a complete picture of every photo and video in my collection in one place. Amazingly also it works for every picture I will take in the future. Wow. So impressed. Thank you Silent Sifter!!!!

Ridiculous(ly good) service

I bought this application (at v3.0) on a whim, since I spend way too much time manually organizing the thousands of photos I take each year into folders by date. After about 15 minutes of fiddling, I got something that kind of worked - but there was an issue where images kept being re-imported after I removed them from the destination folder (I don’t like formatting my camera memory card each time I transfer photos). A bit disappointed, I posted a question/comment to the developer, who immediately responded with some temporary workarounds, wrote me several messages to figure out exactly what I wanted, then implemented the improved handling in a couple of weeks. Great service.

Great App - Diamond in the rough

A really awesome app I happen to stumble upon. Super powerful. Development team: if you have a UX Designer on staff, ask them to find a clean way to elevate all the powerful functionality under the hood. Keep it a fun, clean UI, but bring the configuration settings forward as that is where the magic happens. In general ask you designer to design with larger text in mind - No reason for the tiny text these days. Animation-wise, play with animating the sifting, vs. simply putting a progress spinner over the sift image. Currently this feels like the app was designed by engineers but they asked a designed to give them a sifter image :). No offense engineers! Let your designer have more say over the UI! Like I said, great app!

A great organizing tool, great support

I bought the previous version and it worked as it was supposed to except that I had a problem with sorting AVCHD video from my Lumix camera that resulted in a crash. I contacted support, and, rather than a “we’ll look into it” response, they proceeded to work with me in detail to track down the problem. The dialog included detailed instructions with screenshots to diagnose the problem. They provided a workaround, and now with the new 3.1 release the AVCHD problem has been solved. The app is highly configurable and allows almost limitless ways to configure the source to be sorted and the output, such as folder structure and file naming. I highly recommend the app as an outstanding way to bring organization to photo/video files.

Massive Time Savings

Favorite. App. Ever. Before I had this app, I would spend hours and hours pulling files off my digital cameras adding them to my disorganized mess. I dont worry about any of that anymore. I just run this app on my camera, it pulls in the files organizes them all in the same place as all my other files. I have it leave my photos on my iPhone, but delete the photos off my SD Card when I sift them. I have 57,800 photos and videos and counting. I cant imagine going back to manually organizing anymore. My photos come from all these places: iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, Photo Booth, Nikon D90 SD cards, My mother in laws Nikon D800 SD cards (during holidays I grab her photos too), Photostream, and my sons old Canon point and shoot. I have them all organized into a single place on a Western digital external hard drive. Then I have that western digital backed up using BackBlaze. Photos SOLVED

ALMOST PERFECT

This app is AMAZING. Exactly what I was looking for. I was little hesitant with the price, but their website has a download for a 500 file demo version, after trying that, I was sold. It’s ALMOST perfect, because it doesn’t always seem to get every file on the first scan, and what I figured out is, the ones it did NOT get, I have to move to a new folder before rescanning, otherwise when you run a scan again it will say 0 Copied. Another thing, everytime you add an input/output folder, you have to remember to change the settings if you don’t want the default. It would be nice to set different default options. Also, custom renaming options would be awesome!

very useful

The good news is that the program is extremely configurable, the bad news is that the config stuff is not too easy. The good news is also that the customer support is very timely and helpful! for example: if you would like to sort photos into a series of folders arranged in year/month/week# you will scratch your head, but the helpful support will tell you that you can use the following string as a format and I have tested it and it works! but i would never have figured it out myself. FileType|/|Date:yyyy|/|Date:LL|String: - |Date:LLLL|/|String:Week |Date:w Enjoy

Messed up my photo library, Warning, do not use this software if you use Picasa

I was looking for a software that would help me organize the folder structure of my “Pictures” folder and thought this would do. However I was very dissapointed and I deleted it after the first run as it messed my complete photo library (unfortunately there is no undo option, so I will have to spend a lot of time to put everything back manually) First of all, be aware there is no option for moving files, this software creates copies of the original pictures on a different folder so I run out of disk space on the first run as I had almost 100GB in images. The software does not have option for moving non-images files stored within in the picture folders like the .picasa files which are part of the original folder. This messed up my picasa completely

You will loose half your photos.

I am using Silent Sifter for a simple task: Connect iPhone, Connect USB Drive, Copy pictures. Apparently this app can not handle it. No matter what is the destination folder you choose for import, this App does not care, it will copy it all to your primary drive, and then try to copy it to the USB. Where it gets really bad is, even if you have space on the USB drive, but no space on the primary drive, the app will just import SOME of the photos. But it gets better, the app will tell you ‘Import was successful’ even though half of your stuff isn’t there. Crazy. I would never trust this developer with your photos.
