Silent Sifter has saved me days of opening and re-rating and refiling photographs. Ive always been super-conscientious about backing up, which was great until I lost track of my different filing and rating schemes. Instead of spending a week or more going through thousands of images, I let Silent Sifter identify all the duplicate images, and re-sort unique images by date into a simple set of folders. I still have to do a lot re-rating and tagging, but knowing that I wont be looking at the exact same file in 4 different folders across 7 days means I can concentrate on the photographs themselves.
SS is very flexible. I hadnt planned on letting it manage future downloads from my cameras, but it seems like the best way now.
